Heater-A/C Air flowing into motorbay

Heater-A/C Air flowing into motorbay
Hey everyone, I have a 2000 XJ Sport and I've stumped a couple mechanics with this question. I discovered that most of my airflow from the heater or A/C is blowing straight into the motorbay rather than into my vents and into the cab. I attached a photo of where I can feel the airflow blowing, right near where the intake/out heater core hoses go into the firewall. Anybody got any suggestions? It blows into the motor bay through the firewall while the engine is off. Please help!
