Heater Box Interchangeable?
I have a 97 xj that needs a heater box with AC. A local junkyard has a 98, but he tells me that 97 is for 97 only. I thought any 97 thru 01 w/ AC will work. Anyone have info on this?

if you're talking about a heater core buy a new one they're cheap. Most likely you'll end up with the same problem and have to do it all over again. Just get a new one from an autoparts store or online.

I think the upper half of the HVAC unit for 97-01 are the same. The lower half is different from 97 to 98. Probably the connection point on the lower for the blend-air door push-pull cable hook up. The 97 and 98 have different part numbers for the blower, resistor block, etc.
The 98 & 99 lower half have the same part number, which is confusing because the 98 had a cable operated blend-air door mechanism and the 99 has an electric actuator.
I really don't know for sure if a 98 will work in a 97 - sorry.
How much does the junkie want for his 98 HVAC Unit?
