Default Heat soak issues

In the past after running my 93 Cherokee it would get a very rough idle and wouldn't move no matter how far i pressed the pedal. Usually also stalling out at a stop. I had somewhat of an idea to maybe remmedy it. What about attaching another auxillary fan to the underside of the hood to blow the heat down? Could that theoretically work or would it just make the vaporlock worse?

my temp gauge is always in the middle like it should be. Hasn't happened since its been cool but towards the end of summer here in Texas it was happening a lot. Trying to prevent it before this summer.

From everything I read and have been told that the heat soak problem is 1999 model and up problem according to Jeep. Having said that,
Amazon Amazon
does sell a heat shield kit that could be modified to fit your engine. It may be simpler and cheaper than an aux fan, wiring and a switch...

hope this helps

I made a full heat shield for the injectors and fuel rail , sorry for the bad picture . But it works grate , it could be 115 out side and no problem .

I had terrible problems with my 2000 XJ engine dying after setting for a few minutes. It was hot and I knew it was vapor lock. I purchased a 26” x 16” hood scoop and mounted it with the opening facing the windshield. It has dropped my running temp from 210 degrees to 198 and has never died since. Total cost = $26.

I added my heat shield and didn't have to add in hood vents , but I'm still looking at some just to help with the engine temp when hot and out 4 wheeling .
