do it yourself.

yeah mines not perfect, but everyone thinks I'm awesome for tackling the project on my own. I did the headliner, speaker bar, overhead console and both sun visors when i did mine. turned out great. I just used some brown fleece blanket from JoAnn.

I just replaced my headliner a couple days ago.

I pushed the dome light up to give space to fit a flat head underneath and just pried til they came off.

Then to install using the same lock rings or whatever they are called, I take my needle nose squish them, flatting them back out. It'll make them tight again and then just use a flat head and/or pliers to push them back on.

as for fabric, do as others have said. It's not all that difficult, just tedious if you want it perfect and would be nice if you had an extra set of hands.

You're still gonna have the shop do it?

Oh I got you and another poster confused. Have you decided what you're gonna go with yet?

As I said earlier, I did mine. Went to JoAnnes Fabric and got 3 yards of original type headliner material. You can go online and get a 20% off coupon for JoAnnes. I used two cans of glue and would recommend you do the same. DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON THE GLUE. I used the expensive 3M glue recommended by many on here. Can't remember the specific # but do a search. Follow the directions on the can. A helper (or two) will make it tons easier and the final product will turn out better. I probably have about $70 in it total. I did get a lot of satisfaction out of doing it myself...and friends were amazed it turned out as good as it did. All that being said, if I had access to a qualified source locally who does it for a living and only charged $125, I would have let him do it in a heartbeat. Mine looks really good but I bet his work is better. Really its only costing $55 for his labor if he furnishes the fabric and glue (based on my material cost).

Yeah $125 isn't a bad price. But I would definitely suggest doing it yourself. Save a bit of dough, even though it'll take some time, you'll gain the experience, and that feeling of pride of having done it yourself is awesome.

And a biggggg x2 on getting quality spray adhesive and at LEAST 2 cans of it.

I got the foam all striped off but the liner doesn't look so hot. I think I'm gunna go with a camo to hide all the imperfections in the liner.

I also ran some extra insulation. It's the stuff we run on our barns under the roof metal. If it work for a barn, it works for my jeep. Lol

Extra insulation is not a bad idea. And doesn't matter about your headliner. Any fabric is gunna cover it up. Make sure to use at least 2 cans of spray adhesive
