headlight switch
OK...I have seen alot of ?s about bad headlight swicthes.Today i pulled the switch out of my 87xj because my dash lights werent working so i figured its broke already might as well see if i can fix the switch before i replaced it.To remove the stem there is a push button on the bottom of the housing. There are three long rivets that hold the plasitc housing to the metal frame so after drilling those out i was able to carefully pull it apart.I then cleaned everything with elect. parts cleaner and a scotchbright pad.I then applied some dielectric grease and reassembled the housing.I then used some 6/32 screws in place of the rivets and reinstalled the stem for the switch.Reinstalled the switch and on came all the lights. It sounds like alot of work but the best part is its FREE.So check this out next time your switch quits.
