Default headlight issues

ok On my way to work this morning my headlights flickered then went out. I drove to work in the dark holding my lights lever back the whole way. I don't know if this bypasses something or what but it was the only way to have light.

A little backstory... the PO of my XJ wired ALL the lights to toggle switches. Now the toggle switch I use for headlights is froze and I can not move it at all after this morning. I guess I need to know what rated switch I need to re-wire them so this doesn't happen again?

EDIT: I found a 50 amp switch is that enough?

This is why you do not run power thru switches, use relays
