Default Headlamp Switch: where is it?

OK so I have a 1990 Renix XJ. Here's a wiring diagram if the external lights:

Headlamp Switch: where is it?-r3pbv.jpg

Right now my brake lights don't work. I have power, according to my friend's test light, all the way to the socket assemblies so by all rights, I should have brake lights. We found the fuse had been burned out so it is possible the "bad" socket assembly I got burned something out. He also verified there's power coming to the pedal switch but he was not able to eyeball where the pink wire up there went, and I had forgotten to bring this book with me at the time.

My question is, that headlamp switch that the red/blue wire goes to from the fuse panel, and that the blue wire going to the brake light socket itself comes from? Where the hell is it? Damned if I could figure out where it is under there. My working theory here is that thing was either tripped or shorted out by whatever burned up the fuse.

I'm a little confused by your question. There is no pink wire associated with the headlight switch and the headlight switch has nothing to do with your brake lights.
According to the schematic, there's a light blue wire coming out of the brake light switch and appears to go through some type of juction box and changes to a pink wire (I really hate it when manufacturers do that BTW).

So anyway...........if you're getting power to the socket and the bulbs are good but, still no brake lights, check your ground wires.

Mounted to the column, the plunger contacts the brake pedal arm. Is there a kick panel in the way? if so tear it off.

Forgot to mention I have good ground too. And you're right, the red/blue wire was the one I meant above. I made that change.

you could try running a jumper wire through the system till you get the lights to work and then backtrack to find the bad spot...... time consuming sometimes but it works

I have to say that the title of your thread gave me pause for a moment.

I thought, "Holy *****! If this guy can't find the headlight switch he shouldn't even be driving!"

Anyway, hope you find a solution to your issue.
