Default head removal help

i got the answer thx to every one so im going to make this easy for future ref. on someone else.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i know how to put it back on but what sequence to take it off?

is it the reverse of how to put it on? answer: there is no order when taking it off
but im going to do it the way i know which is opp. order.

is this it?
3 7 11 14 10 6 2
4 8 12 13 9 5 1

this is how you put it back on:

looking at you head from the driver side...here is the tightening sequence (start at 1 and work your way out)

dont forget to put sealant on the treads of #11 as it goes into the water jacket.

12 8 4 1 5 9 13
11 7 3 2 6 10 14

step 1...tighten all bolts to 22ft/lbs
step 2....tighten all bolts to 45 ft/lbs
step 3....recheck all bolts at 45ft/lbs
step 4...tighten all bolts except #11 to 110ft/lbs, then tighten #11 to 100ft/lbs...

thx again guys and good luck to future jeepers who see this.
hope it helps.

Taking off in any order putting it back on is when you have to worry about the bolt sequence.

You're taking it off, it doesn't matter how you unbolt it. Doesn't have to seal. Just make sure you torque it back down correctly.

I'd crack them loose first than to it in a rough pattern. No big.

How heavy is the head? Can a mortal lift it or do you need a hoist?

It's doable if you have a strong back. But a second or third pair of hands makes it a lot easier. It is really awkward because of it being so long. They are heavy but I don't recall what the weight of it is. If you have a hoist available I would go that route if you are doing it by yourself.

About 75-80#. Not a lightweight.

The link below has it at 60Lbs...then + every valve, spring, studs, ect. I'd do it myself, no sweat. Then regret it for days. It's awkward. Joe Montanna sold me on Nuprin, (Naproxin Sodium), btw. With help and something sturdy to stand on, (or lowering the front end), I might not strain anything....

I lifted the thing off by myself. Wasn't too bad actually i honestly thought it was going to be heavier.

Lifting it on though is a different story. I dropped mine back on with the exhaust manifold and intake manifold bolted on to make things easier.
