Hi guys, im new to the xj jus bought my first one yesterday. i am having a problem with my brakes, my pedal is extremely hard but i have nearly zero stopping power, also my brake light on the dash is on its the ligh that says "brake". the previous owner has had the jeep nearly totally submerged in water but has replaced many parts and has it running. i have my suspicions of it just being my power brake booster needing replaced, hopefully thats all. i was jus wanting to check with you guys who have more experience with these xjs and jus wanted any suggestions you all may have from what ive read there are many switches and valves that are on the xjs braking system im hoping you guys maybe able to explain another cause to my issues that would be caused by one of those swithes or valves and not the booster. any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

 

What year is your rig? Mine does this and it is the crappy abs system. It is up by the right fender and firewall. I just have one huge right leg from using the pedal. I am trying to get mine fixed at the local dealer. It was a recall way back in when. Call your dealer and see if it has any open recalls.

 

Sounds like a bad proportioning valve.
