Hatch problem

I posted in the modified cherokee section on accident but I got a 99 and I have to yank the handle a few times before the hatch opens. Any solutions to this problem??

Don't buy a jeep. Every opening on my 96 is like that except the hatch it actually works, I would pull it apart and have a look

Every door and my hatch was like that when i got mine. I soaked all the latches in PB Blaster and everything worked fine for a while and the hatch started acting stupid again. Now I just soak the latches every couple of months and all is good. Give it a try and see what happens, its easy and as close to free as it gets.
