Default Harmonic balancer part numbers?

How does the Dorman 594018 replacement compare to the Mopar piece? Omix-Ada, or even Crown? Or should i stick with Mopar on this? Dealer says 4.0 part number 33002920AC, $110 + tax.

Ive been running the $32 Dorman part on my XJ for 5 years and it hasnt blown up or started on fire yet. I see no signs of it seperating either..

I can buy 3 Dormans for the price of 1 dealer pulley..

Just threw on the dorman part a month or so ago. It is built much better than the Mopar one. Less rubber to dry rot and have the outer part come off.

And, good parts,

And, IIRC, under $60 at OReily.

Got the balancer, did not install it yet. Rockauto said 'installation hardware included' which consists of 2 keys and an instruction sheet, but all i got was the balancer. Instructions? Dont need those. I dont really need the extra keys either (i have a drawer full of them) but if anyone else orders Dorman 594-018 and your current key is broken or gone missing, plan ahead and order some extra keys, just in case your box is missing them.

Also, made in China, which did not even cross my mind until now. Where does the Mopar part come from?

I knew it came from Mexico or China.

See post of mine above, which you dismissed.

Found an older post concerning the balancer, and this pic (posted by Warthog) that shows the keyway.

Is that key an issue while removing the balancer, or more so during the install? I have heard of others losing it into the oil pan, which is my only concern as dropping the oil pan is not on my list of adventure.
Removing the bolt and positioning the balancer so the key way is facing up should prevent losing the key, yes? Then again, it should be a snug fit and not fall out at all, right? Or is the only reason some lost the key because the balancer was off just enough that it caught the key and pushed it into the pan during the install???
Even with the proper tools i do not want to just dive in. The more i know, the better.

The key should stay where it is.

Make certain there are no burs on the HB that would cause the key to move.

Thanks. Got it done without issue. It may have been pulled once already or the fan was messed with as the old balancer was scarred on the front, right in line with the fan blades. They are not close enough to touch installed so i have no idea what happened there.
