I need to replace the climate control fan on the inside of my '92 XJ. Anyone know the best way of getting in there to get that thing out. Where's the cheapest place to get a new one? (just fan, I don't forsee needing a new motor)
Side note - when installing my lift kit I had to cut open the frame to get the rear leaf bolts out (they were rusted and broken). I tacked some new steel rectangles in the spots that I cut out to keep dirt out, does anyone forsee any structural problems in my future? It was about a 2''x2'' rectangular hole on each side on the underneath the frame rails.

Its dead simple. Open the hood. It's on the outside firewall in front of the passenger. 3 sheet metal screws (1/4 inch I believe) and a power plug. Replace the whole unit for about 40 bucks at the parts store.
What makes you think it needs to be replaced? My 210K mile XJs is still going strong.

The fan in our Taurus did the same thing, but it just worked its way up the shaft and was wobbling around and would hit the side of the case from time to time.
