Oh CCKen I'm as sarcastic and dry as they come. But when I come here to profess ignorance and seek advice I try to keep it in check. If I was looking for badgering I'd just get married again. Ha

Previous body work, no biggie if there's no rust. Fill it with flexible paintable sealant and paint to match if you wanna pretty it up.

Hey! I take issue with your assertion that none of the choices addressed your concern. You presented a perception of a problem and my solutions were crafted to both alleviate your anxiety of a new issue, and to repair the body of your jeep or at least have a professional opinion sought. I stand by my opinion of the quality assessment of that repair.

The tone of your post suggests self deprecation, so I thought I'd just play along with you. So while I work on my blossoming social skills, you can work on that OCD thing. Having your hair on fire is not a good look. 🔥

Thanks 90cherokee, I'll plan on doing just that
Ok Orlo, I suspect you're too intelligent to really believe your first paragraph there, but I respectfully decline further debate lest CCKen OD on popcorn. I'll keep your cheeky nature in mind should you ever grace me with your insight again. Haha

Yep. He's in Ohio...there's rust, lol. When it gets objectionable grind it down, patch it and paint it up.
Take a good look underneath to make sure the fame & floorpans are solid. Even so a bit of flex in some spots is normal...bondo doesn't like that.

As mentioned a few times. It looks like someone filled in that seam with something and it cracked.

Also FYI carfax is worth it's weight in lead.

A carfax can only show what it knows and in some cases it can be very useful. If someone fixes his car in the garage then of course it won't show up unless the insurance paid for it. If someone rolls his odometer back in his garage it's very possible to detect it with a carfax. I've had carfax catch sellers in a lie, including dealers; useful. A vehicle can even be salvaged while the seller is holding a clean title (it's a timing thing and I recently experienced it first hand) and a carfax may show the salvage or at least the large repair so that you know to investigate. I'm currently fixing a car that was in a minor accident, the owner didn't have collision insurance and it's not being repaired at a dealer so it won't be reported. I'll disclose it when it's time to sell, but it won't be on the carfax I provide the buyer. Anyone looking for a low mile Volvo 850 turbo wagon? 'Fresh grill & headlights'

The 850 turbo Volvo is a pretty impressive ride. Just not my style. Although I'd drive a C30 any day.

Carfax is useful when you're spending some serious scratch and want another source of information. Does it tell the whole story? No. Can it help sniff out a former rental car? You bet! It's one part of the investigation you need to do when buying a vehicle. You still need to research, inspect and do a fair amount of noggin pokin to get the full story.
