yes, cut it off then get a rod or pipe that will fit in it. now get a hammer and beat the ceramic out of it. once it is all out just re-weld it. really easy. and it sounds a lot better. mine was plugged, not as bad but i noticed a huge improvement after i did this. the only reason i gutted it was because i couldnt afford a new one at the time. buy a new one when you can.
start the jeep up and put ur hand over the tailpipe. it should have alot of pressure coming out the tailpipe. if you can hold ur hand over it it is plugged and u SHOULD REPLACE IT

Good advice Jonny. There is a rule on CF. You are not to suggest or promote anything which might be illegal in the state in which the poster resides. two converters. one for each down pipe from manifold. each converter has two sensors, one before, and one after the converter. pic is from the ground looking up to the engine.

my purpose of this post is to find out if i can delete one of these? i have got smarted of in another post. i am not trying to do anything illegal. im just trying to get the most out of the ol' heep, cause my power and mpg's have gone downhill. reguardles i will be removing the one in front of the muff. because i dont see the purpose in it. and i guess i will be replacing the other two. i just dont see the point of 3 converters, or even two for a little 4.0
The one before the muffler could be a resonator. This coming from a guy who doesn't know a lot about Cherokee's (just bought mine) but have had a resonator between the cat and the muffler on the five or so other vehicles I've bought in the past. If that isn't stock, perhaps a muffler shop has been "messing around" with your setup.
thats a weird one... never heard it on any "stock" jeep b4... well i finally just broke down and orderd a new exhaust. couldnt get my freekin caddy off if my life deppended on it lol.. going with some flow daddy headers a reg. CALIFORNIA legit caddy and a flowmaster 50! hopin the heep will sound and react better with this combo. anyone else runnin flow daddy headers from Rustys?
