yeah i guess that video doesnt do the sound justice. its really pretty loud, and sometimes sounds grinding...like bearings are bad. is that pulley hard to replace?

Harmonic balancer would be called bad if the rubber insulator deteriorated to the point that it began to wobble and shake. You would see a noticeable fore and aft movement of the belt in the vicinity of the harmonic balancer pulley. Auto Zone sells a stethoscope with a long metal probe on it for diagnosing worn parts associated with noises.

ok. thanks for helping a girl out guys! so, it is most definitely the pulley attached to my power steering. its wobbles and grinds, and now there is a small leak from the pump itself. auto part stores do not have the part i need , so I'll try the junk yard first tomorrow. I'll get the pulley tool, is this a tough project? i'm semi mechanically inclined (new exhaust manifold, 3row radiator, starter, motor mounts, trans mount) but i've never messed with the pulleys.

stella still drives tho, is there any other damage i could be doing (other than the obvious killing the pump)

if the power steering pump is sounding like that replacing the pulley won't help, you will have to replace the whole pump, sorry to say that, when you get the new pump take it and the old pump to a shop and let them swap the pulley for you, it is easier that way, mine charged me 6 dollars vs 35 dollars for a tool kit from autozone.

Possible water pump baering failure (start), when it acturally fails, it will mostlikely pitch your belt into the fan and shred it. or idler pulley, or just an old belt. dont use belt dressing o anything other than V belts

x2 but you get the 35 dollars back when you rent the tool when you return it to them

There's fluids in the jeep? other than Gasoline? I mean I know your supposed to pop off the air intake from the throttle body and add water every once in a while to keep it tuned

my bad... there was an entire thread on chat like that once, freaking hilarious. guys talking about re-building discombobulators and such haha.

But in all seriousness, If that was me, I would take out the air box and aux fan. undo the belt tensioner and remove the belt. then go around to all pulleys and spin/ check them. Alternator-water pump- idler- belt suspects
