Default Grinding from rear

2000 Sport 180,000mi no issues.

Today while pulling away from a light my right wheel spun(wet ground) and it made a horrible grinding sound from the rear end. I never have had any issues with the transmission or axles. Theres no problem when i have to really gas it to pass someone or to merge on the highway. Its only from a dead stop. Before i pop off the diff cover to inspect, any ideas on what it would be? It drives 100% all day long, no vibes or odd noises, just the grinding when i punch the throttle.

I had a 96 Camaro SS that did the same thing. Mine turned out to be a bad center hub in the third member. I replaced that and it was fine. I didn't need to replace the ring and pinion, just the differential itself.

Thanks, ill check as soon as i can. Like i said it drives flawless so its not really giving me any clues to pinpoint the grind. I just dont want to pull the diff cover and have to collect the pieces

check your mounts, and check exhaust, it could be "grounding" on the frame....If you had a diff issue it would be there most of the time i think...
Good luck
