grinding gears in 4 high

grinding gears in 4 high
So i have vacuum poressure. My shifter fork moves back and forth when shifting into 4high and 4 low. I have no slop in the fork. It stays in place. But when i try engaging it i hear a grinding coming from the shifter fork area on the axle and my front tires dont spin i just hear grinding gears................IDEAS????

i was going 25 and put my car in nuetral then threw it in 4 high and it worked for about 5 minutes then stopped working
