Default Grand Cherokee seats

I have read that the Grand Cherokee seats should bolt right into an XJ( I assume I am right). But is that using the XJ seat brackets or the Grand's seat bracket. Also does it have to be from a ZJ or will a WJ's work?

One last thing has anyone wired up the motor controls and the seat heater into an XJ? I have an SE so my seats aren't wired for anything.

I put ZJ seats in mine and I did have to swap the brackets from my old XJ seats to the ZJ seats. It was very easy though. I think it's only 4 bolts.

I'm not 100%, but I think WJ seats will work as well. Not sure about the heated seats, but it can't be that hard to find someone that has done it.

I would also like to know how this works, heated seats would definitely be a plus to have here in this 0* weather

Thanks I'll look for some ZJ seats then. They are good enough for me, I do want to wire it for heated seats so if anyone has done it speak up!

My WJ's leather seat is the most comfortable I've ever driven in. I hope to have another XJ someday, but I'll have to get some WJ seats for it!

WJ rear seats will not work... i tried... no real way to make them either unless you completely cut out everything and start from scratch... the rear fender wells are in the way...

I only plan on doing the front seats. My rear seats look like new, I guess the PO never had any friends

Anybody install ZJ seats into their XJ? I want to put them in and hook up the heating element... And if I can get lucky the motorized seat part as well.

Any help is appreciated!!

Thanks,
Jon

Ok I did this in my 94. Nothing was drop in on that but on 95+ the fronts can be swapped from a ZJ to an XJ easily. The back ZJ seat can be put in the XJ as well with some modification. Check my blog below for a writeup on that. I have read that WJ seats are a PITA to hook up the power and heating elements too. Just saying.

Thanks it was helpful... However, is the power and heat the same PITA when using ZJ seats, I am pretty sure the ZJ still had that in them, on select models.

What kinda tranny do you have? Your tag says its a 94 but I know that only a ax-15 came in the 94 for a manual. The shifter **** looks like a SM-465 from a full size chev. I was considering that swap myself. Im talking about the pic in your build thread btw

Ha yes I have had many questions about that... its an AX15 with the wrong shift ****. I bought it like that. Sorry.

On the ZJ stuff. I do not know. If its basic power it should be easy. I have read of a lot of people buying heating pads for cars on ebay and installing them with fantastic results. I live in FL so heated seats isnt an issue or desired really. I believe it was an article on Peteresons 4 wheel on the WJ seats explaining the system because the seats power ran through the WJs computer making a major headache for anyone swapping it into an XJ.

I know they do because my sister had a later zj with heated seats. I believe it was a 98 with the 5.9 and leather seats. I know it had the 5.9, and I believe the 5.9 was only made in 98
