I just bought another XJ this past weekend for $500. It has a SUPER nice interior. It runs/drives great but the previous owner got happy with a sawzall. He chopped the front and rear fenders up. He did the cut-n-fold method on the back and I believe he went a little too high with it. It's NOT lifted and has bald 33x12.50's on it now. How can I put it back to stock without it looking goofy? I have 2 front fenders w/ fender flares so the front won't be a problem. But what about the back? I think it will look ridiculous with 225/75's on it because of how much gap there'll be in the back. I'm making this my daily driver. I want it to get the best mileage I can get out of it. That's why I'm going back to stock and running stock-sized tires. Please help a fellow Jeeper out! Thank you!

As far as I'm aware that's the only way to fix the back. There's no way to bolt those fenders on or off, they're part of the unibody.
What we used to do in Chicago when patching rust (without a welder) is a bit mickey mouse and NOT really the right way to do it.... but we'd cut out body or pan sections and rivet them into place, denting the seam slightly and then using bondo over the seam to smooth it out.
Like it said, NOT the right way to do it but it worked well enough when I didn't have access to a welder. MY advice is to get a new patch of panel welded in. You won't regret it.
