Glue in Floor Pan
Hi everyone. I am replacing my rusted-out floor pan and I had a couple of questions.
Am I able to glue the floor pan using the 3m body panel adhesive?
Does the floor pan have to touch the frame of the unibody or can it sit slightly above?
Thanks

It needs to be welded in. The panel adhesive will eventually let go and the pan needs to touch what it was designed to touch and be part of the structural integrity of the unibody

Pan is structural. I suppose with very strong enough adhesive AND a very large bonding area it might be strong as original. But I'd not count on that. Likely you dont have enough material left for a large bond area, unless you are only repairing a smallish rust hole with a big patch piece.
Welding is recommended, this is even more critical if she is an off road XJ, as off road causes lots of body flex. For a street XJ, it may not be as big a deal.
So street or off road?
