Gettin' fog lights, do I need a new battery?

I concur. Any group 78 battery (OE in XJ's) in good condition should be able to handle 110 watts for a fair amount of time at or about freezing temps. If it can't, I would suspect the battery.

If you have a battery charger and/or a friend with jumpers, simply test it in your driveway

If you want added reserve and security, without motor assistance, carry a second battery and jumper cables. Should your primary die, jump it on the spot. Another option would be a due battery setup. I would recommend a battery manager going this route though which adds cost..
