Default Gears in rear for wheeling

From my buildsheet,my XJ has a 3.55 rear from the factory. Its pretty good on gas on the street, but what about wheeling?

Anyone else wheel with a 3.55? Is that enough gear to conquer most obstacles?

How much benefit does a lunchbox locker add to the capabilities of a 3.55 when wheeling?

3.55 aren't too bad for stock to a mild lift but once you add larger diameter tires or a taller lift you want to add lower gears to bring the power band and drivability back to near stock levels. I say near stock cause you're obviously gonna have more get up and go but your rig will perform like it left the factory.
