First off Gears, aka ring and pinion, and new bearing, seals etc, just get a kit and you will come out cheaper. You will need a new carrier for the Dana 30 front, not sure what rear axle you have, if its a 35 you need a new carrier for it, the 8.25 doesn't have a carrier break so it will be fine. As for tools, torque wrench inch and foot pounds and a dial indicator and the know how to set pinion depth and back lash.
You can pick the parts up at most aftermarket vendors, I have had good luck with Complete Offroad and they carry Yukon parts for a lot less than most others.

There are a lot of deal packs that will include the ring and pinon as well as the master install kits. rustys has one, they will give u motive or superior both good parts there install kits will get you everything you need for your carrier and setting all the backlash; but i am not have happy with their CS give National Drive train a call or an PM they should be on this forum, i do know for a fact they are on NAXJA he will hook you up very well. I was told too late. If you are gearing a 35 i wouldnt, i first get ur self a axle upgrade. thats just my .02. When looking at install kit for you gear swap you want a min. of carrier bearings. and pinion bearings as well as ring bolts Lock-tight and a marking compound. For a Dana 30 you will want to have a new slinger it's a big *** washer it looks to me haha as well as the pinon seal, there are some other things but i am having a brain fart right now i am sure my list will be added too. Hope this helps
