Is there any way to find out what gears I have without pulling the cover? I can't find anything on the axle so I called the dealer and gave them my VIN. They told me I have 3.55s with an 8.25 rear end. I have a D35 so I'm not to confident it what they told me about the 3.55s.

Bingo. But another way to tell (i.e. if it wasn't stock) is to count how many revolutions the driveshaft makes compared to how many revolutions the wheel makes. In your case, and if you have an automatic, one rotation of the rear tires would make the driveshaft spin a little more than 3½ times. (1:3.55).
