Ive decided to go with a 4.11 gear ratio for my rig. while shopping around, i noticed a few places say that if you are going to a higher number gear, you need to replace the carrier in the dana 30, (i have a 3.07 now)

Do i also need a new low gear carrier for the Chrysler 8.25 as well?
I plan on running an open front and using the power trax no slip locker in the rear

Yes you will need the carrier for the D30 but the 8.25 should be fine up to 4.56. I think you may have to clearance a couple of gears to get the cross-shaft back in. Maybe the poster will chime in but there was a write-up on rear gears for a 8.25 rear.
