So here the queastion, I got a 96 xj, 5 speed 4.0 and i just put a new front axle in. ( 3.73 gears Dana 30 CAD)

My rear axle is a c8.25 30.7 gears thats still in
BUTT i am putting in my Ford 8.8 with 373

I need to get the jeep 1 mile down the road to my other shop and it currently has the 3.07 rear and 3.73 front, Can i drive it in 2wd to the shop or will it pop my transfer case?

Cant seem to find any info on this

Pull the front driveshaft out and run it in 2wd.

 

x2 if you take off your front drive shaft its like having a 2wd jeep just heavier

 

I drove my Jeep with the 242 T case with 4.10 front and 3.73 rear for about 3 months and never had a problem. I just never put it in part time until I got matching ratios again. I'd put it in full time mode to pull someone out or something but nothing else.

 

Sounds good. Got the jeep moved and front end buttoned up. Rear 8.8 tomorro!!!
