gauges/headlights don't work
hi! im new here. i have a 94 cherokee sport, and i have a specific problem that i cant find any answers to online. on the way home from work today, first my headlights wouldnt work, and then all of my gauges stopped working. the high beams still work. the battery gauge read ok, up until just now when it stopped working. is there a chance it could be a bad ground, and if it was, where would it be located? or is there a fuse that would make all of these stop working? i changed my power steering pump a couple days ago, and in the process sort of broke my temperature censor. could that have something to do with it? any input would be really appreciated, as im sure it will save me oodles of time. thanks!

The gauges are pretty common, it is usually a bad ground or the connector on the back of the cluster. I however do not know how the gauges and healights could be related, perhaps by a common ground. Though I believe healights usually ground on the core support. My gauges have worked on and off for varying lengths of time; seconds, minutes, days, months.. Only some work or none work. I would try and find a wiring diagram and chase the wires on paper, odd sometimes what things can be related.
Similar story:
Interior lights in my wifes 97 s10 4wd Blazer would come on while driving.. after studying a wiring diagram I found out the driver's seat controls shared the same fuse as the interior lights. The lumbar switch is mounted on the side of the drivers bottom seat cushion and after 10+ years of the driver sliding in and out of the driver's seat the wires had began grounding on the internal seat frame. As you would drive and shift your weight to that side, it would ground and cause the lights to come on. Since me and the wife are about the same height I was able to just diconnect the seat controls. Probably never would have found it, if it wasnt for the wiring diagram.

well the lever that you pull back to go from low to high beams might be messed up and there is a fuse labled gauges and for the lights i think there is a low lamp fuse and a high lamp fuse check all fuses on the driver side
