Yesterday I picked up a full gauge cluster out of another cherokee for my 98 and the millage on this one reads 175,000, while my orginal one has 132,000. I wanted to know where I could get my cluster reset and how much it might cost and if theres anything else to it? Would I have to get it notirized at the DMV? If anyones done this let me know, thanks agian.

You don't have to reset it. The DMV will provide you with a sticker that you place on the dash or door frame verifying the current mileage at the time of replacement. You can check the YP for a speedometer shop if you want it to read 000000.0 but it's not absolutely necessary.

Is the mileage stored in the cluster itself or in another module? Reason I ask, is because on my 2000 Intrepid, the mileage is stored into the BCM and not the cluster. So, when you change clusters, you don't need to do anything.

I was told it was stored in the PCM by someone but it hasnt changed over so Im not totaly sure. Im guessing its either that or theres a memory chip in each cluster.

The milage is stored in the cluster. I recently scored a cluster off of the bay i just needed the lens, but while I had my cluster out I plugged the other one in. My Jeep is a 2000 with 125,000 on the clock and the new cluster read 247,000. It is defiantly stored in the cluster.

Its a 98 so its digital. How would you reflash the pcm? Would you use a OBDII scan tool? Because if so I havent seen an option like that on one that ive used.
