Default Gas Tank skid plate

I am looking into getting a gas tank skid plate for my 99. Would a skid plate work from a 95? I would have to check tank size right???

Thanks guys

I understand you need a 97+ as they went to plastic tank that year. I got a skid from the JY for my '99 for $80.

You can get a ZJ skid though, and just drill new holes, and it will fit just fine. My local jy's have tons of ZJ's with skids in them, but no 97+ XJ's with skids. I plan on doing this myself soon.

Went to the Junkyard today. Did some work on a skid plate from a 96 ZJ ORVIS edition and finally got it removed. Not in bad condition a little rusty but not bad. 10 BUCKS! Talk about a steal

Should this fit my 99 XJ?????

Skid plates off older xjs will fit 97+ no problem, I have one on my rig right now, just needed to trim a little off the front of it. All holes lined up no problem.
