Default Gas/oil black pipe

alright so i have some Gas/Oil black pipe(the kind you get from home depot) that has been sitting in the backyard for over a year now. It seems to be just about the right size to slide over the factory tie rod (mine is bent) However... I do not have a micrometer. They are with in .5mm from my rough measurments. does anyone know the ID of the gas/oil pipe. and the OD of the factory tie rod?

cause if it fits i am going to sleeve my factory tie rod to give it a bit more strength since the black pipe isnt exactly thin wall tubing....

I can't help you with the measurements, but some here have used the ZJ V8 tie-rod as a replacement because it's solid rather than hollow as the XJ piece is.

Thanks for the reply ol"blue.

I had to do an alignment anyways. so i just pulled the tie rod off and tried it. It was just a sliver to big to fit into the pipe.

Oh well... I just straitened mine out.

I have thought about doing the ZJ conversion but i want to get rid of the inverted Y so i was just looking for a free mod to beef it up till i can build a new set up.

Well I guess it was worth a try then.
