Back when mine was driven on the street I got 17 on the highway on 35s but I also run 4.56s. Used to get about 18-20 before the lift.

Ok, keep your pants on buddy. For me NORMAL mileage is 18-20 city, 22-24 highway, as you can see, clearly it all depends on tires, mods, etc.I run 235/75/15's with no engine mods at all... THAT is realistic.

I can echo that. 1997, 4.0 Auto 4x4. Stock. 165k miles. If I don't run the air and keep it under 65mph, I get about 23-24 mpg. With the air and 75+, maybe 16mpg.

this forum is odd.

members here seem to get well over 20mpg, never have problems with AAL, can run 35's on a 35 forever, and claim rough country rides great and is reliable....

crazy...

I get 18 with a mix of country roads and city. 4.11 gears and 235/75 tires.

If you use gas with ethanol mixed in, expect a 10-15% decrease in mileage.

if you have a stock 4.0 with auto, you could get 20 on the highway. expect 17 to 19 though and then less in town. not mush less but like 16. if you do any mods though, expect 15mpg to be the best mileage you get.

A-hem....this may help things out a bit.

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.htm

It's the governments official website of what kind of MPG's various cars get.
Results may vary.

All of these posts are both correct and incorrect. Some people have a lighter right foot than others. Some people have impeccably maintained rigs that run at the peak of performance or economy. You have to look at your own builfd situation and state of repair for an accurate assessment of your expected MPG's. On my stock drive line 2001, I recently got 20-21 mpg on a vacation trip of about 900 miles. No lift, no oversized wheels and tires, tuned up with new plugs, L.O.F., tranny flush, new air filter and judicious use of the cruise control on the highway. I also drive like an old man when I'm trying to get better mileage, so I think in certain situations 20+ MPG is attainable.
