Default gas leak. help

i went and filled up my jeep last week and went into walmart after and when i came out i noticed a puddle. got clsoer and could smell it was gas looked up under and found the source. its coming from my sending unit. so i oreded the seal for it and just got it in the other day. but i was wondering, it looks like there might be enough room to do without dropping the tank. does anyone know for sure if ill have to because if i dont it would save a good bit of time and gas

you should be able to remove the sending unit without dropping the tank, they were easy untill 97+ and moved the pump to the top

My buddy installed a new seal on an 89 XJ without dropping the tank. It took about 30 minutes if I remember correctly, but couldn't tell you for sure because I was just a bystander.
