....FWD Cherokee?????
I have a friend who was argueing with me today about something.. something legit actually. Our XJ's are mostly 4x4 right? A front and rear diff with 2 drive shafts.
Let's say you're going down the road and your rear shaft or something blows out. If you went into 4-hi and didn't go over 35-40 mph, could you use the front diff as a kind of front wheel drive to get home?

yeah, and I wouldnt worry about staying under 40... Ive heard of people doing 70 like that. You just have to find a way to keep all teh fluid from leaking out the rear, when the slip yoke is gone fluid starts coming out.

I've done it but with a locker it ain't fun. 96 and later don't have the internal slip yoke so the fluid isn't an issue or a SYE takes care of that as well.

i drove on the freeway with mine with a locker, worked fine till i got home. just zip tied a plastic bag over the t-case end to keep fluid in. the jeep you cant do it in is the grand cherokee with the 249, cause the missing driveshaft will cause it to slip and fry the dif inside your t-case...i know i have done it
