Well my "project XJ" is giving me a new issue to ensure the project runs forever. 95 Cherokee Sport (4X4 4.0 Automatic trans) which has been sitting for a few years while i do the Iraq and back rotations. The fuel pump was not working so i removed the sending unit and noticed the new issue. All the rubber lines that were inside the tank and running to the fuel filter were seriously rotting away. The rubber was like tar.

Question 1. What made this happen?

Question 2. There is a rubber boot that sits on the bottom of the return line and plugs into the cup in the bottom of the tank is gone. Does anyone know where to get one? The dealer does not carry it and is at a loss as to where i might try.

Question 3. Where can i get a deal on a new tank?

If your lines were made pre- ethanol fuel, or are just really old, yes they will rot. You can get new fuel lines at any good parts store, now keep in mind you have to specifically say it's going inside the tank, if ou get lines made for fuel on the inside only, the will rot fast, and vice- versa for the ones made to go inside the tank.
