So I am driving my Jeep finally and filled it up for the first time and put 14.8 gallons in it but it was on a quarter tank. What are the tank sizes? I think mine is around 20? I have a 1989 Cherokee with 4.0l 6 Cyl and Auto Trany with 4x4.

theyre 20.2 gal to be exact. and it needs to be, with the mileage we get.

 

So thats why it hurts so much so fill up.

 

my gas gauge is on E and the light comes on but when i fill it it usually only takes 14 gallons does this mean i have a 20 gallon tank and the light comes on early? i thought i read they could come with a 13.5 too

Most came with a 16 gallon tank, and some came with a 20 gallon

 

I just bought an '01 xj...is that a 20 gallon tank too?
