Default Fuel Sending Unit

Hey Guys,

So I've been working on my moms 96 cherokee 4.0 4x4 (swapped the transmission last weekend) and noticed the fuel gauge doesn't work. Also, every so often, it acts like it can't get any fuel. I played with the sending unit a little (tried cleaning it up) and the gauge worked for a short period, then got stuck again. I figured my best bet was to replace the pump and sending unit together (makes since, right?) But I can't seem to find the sending unit on any parts stores' websites.

Does anyone have a part number or site that lists it?

Thanks,
Mike

Or JCWhitney.com has the whole assembly for a whopping $206!

hmm...But what are the chances of a JY one having the same issues? Can you buy the sending unit separately anywhere? (don't misunderstand me....I love the JY, just don't know how common this problem is)

I guess that's the chance you take when you do JY parts...I had a similar issue with my '96, but cleaning the sensor on the sending unit fixed it for me. I did a google search of '96 jeep Cherokee fuel sending unit and it came up with a bunch of them, with and without the pump.
