fuel sender and gauge

Default fuel sender and gauge

I have 89 xj, I need help, I just replace my fuel pump and sender (new) and my gauge reads empty, I check relays, followed wire, cannot figure out whats going on, please help!!

Is it possible the wires are reversed on the sending unit?

really! bought brand new, so I would have to take it out again and just switch the to leads?

That was just my guess. It seems you checked everything else. Maybe Soldierjunkie, Trekkerjm or someone else equally as brilliant can offer a solution to your problem.

Ol blue thank you for the tip, but it did not work, my gauge is reading empty with new pump and sender unit, please help

If your guage read fine before the fuel pump swap then your issue is definitely right there at the wiring you messed with in the process of doing that. You could pulled too hard on one, nicked one, or wired something backwards. Not sure what exactly you did but, I bet you will find the problem right there in that area.

X2 Check those wires. i replaced a pump that i dint have to on one of my old ones, the ground wire was hanging off. didnt see it until i had the new pump in

the pump read full when empty and empty when full before I changed out the pump and sender, the wires are all good, any other ideas
