so my laying under rear of jeep or sitting inside quietly with nothing on i can hear a whining buzzing type of noise im sure its fuel pump...does it at all times. is this normal or a sign that it will be dying soon? lol ive only heard them on vehicles when they are slap out of gas or heard people say they make noise when they are ready to quit.


info or advice needed. i figure i may as well change it, but have never changed fuel pump my xj is an 87. any help or info on a install would be a life saver. is it outside the tank?

Its normal for electric fuel pumps to buzz. If its really loud it might be a sign that its on its way out but if its just the same old buzz its always made, I wouldn't worry too much.

If you're uncomfortable with it, buy or order the pump now so you'll have it if it quits on you. Get the strainer filter also.
