Ok lets start with the fact I needed to replace my gas tank,so off to the jy I went. Found a gas tank,dont know what year its outta all I know is my jeep is a 91 1/2-92,so I pulled the brand new fuel pump from my old tank and set about replaceing it. Now it wont fit the new tank,I notice while holding the two pumps by the inlet-outlet the doner tank is slightly shorter and the mounting plate is angled and my 92 pump is flat. So now Im stuck with a fuel pump that pumps gas and thats about it,also the doner tank does not fit well between the hitch and unirails as did the old one. So long of the short is what year tank do I have cause the jy insists that its for my year and I'm thinking no.

 

Now that you have yours off. Take both tanks to the J/Y and show them they were mistaken. Just tell them you need one like the one off of your Jeep. They can then match them up.
