Default Fuel Odor

So I've had a fuel odor that started off as not so bad. Simply smelled it every so often. It then became more prominent and was there whenever I had the windows down. No visible leaks. Checked all the fuel lines and fuel rail. The Haynes manual I have said a clogged charcoal canister might be the cause. Later I was exploring the engine compartment and noticed that the vent hose from the fuel tank (it's rubber by the way) had aged to the point where the rubber was crumbling away and the hose was just dangling. I have yet to replace it because I'm not sure what kind of work I'm looking at.

Is it just a rubber hose all the way back to the tank to replace? Or does it turn into metal at some point? And what kind of rubber hosing do I need?

The rubber hose connects to a metal line in the engine compartment on the drivers side right next to your fuel and brake lines on the firewall

Don't forget to check the line going into the canister, I had that issue with my '92 once. Occasional odor of fuel, found out a hose slipped off the canister.

Haha that was the hose I was talking about that crumbled away and fell off.

Anyone know what kind of rubber hosing to use? Oreillys carries transmission cooling hose which I've used before. Might be overkill though.
