1998 jeep Cherokee 4.0, engine will turn over but will not start. pulled fuel pump relay and jumped the terminals and the fuel pump will work. Poured gas into intake and the engine will run until it burns all the gas that I poured in. Checked all fuses and relays, everything is ok. Please help.

 

Will the engine run with the fuel pump relay jumped?

 

it tried to run but I think my paper clip would not keep a good connetion

 

it tried to run but I think the paperclip I used was not getting a good connection when I tried to start it.

 

Found the problem. One of the wires that goes to the fuel pump relay was not making a good connection to one of the prongs on the fuel pump relay. Had to take the Power Distribution Center, that is mounted on the passenger side fender well, apart to find the loose wire.
