Default Fuel Line Problem

Someone replaced my XJ's fuel tank recently, without replacing the quick-connects, and so they leaked pretty badly. I've removed the offending quick-connects, and the foot-long plastic fuel-injector-pressure hose, but unfortunately I don't have a way of building a new one: I have new quick connectors, but I don't have the tool to build a new hose. My local shop suggested just buying the whole assembly, quick connectors and hose together, but I can't locate this on the Jeep parts breakaway.

Does anyone have any suggestions? At the end of the day, I just need to join to quick-connect-capable metal fuel lines to each other, at a distance of about a foot. [I'm not half-assing it, though, either, with clamps or glue or whatever! ] Any thoughts?

[edit: For anyone trying to work out the part I'm talking about, it runs from the fuel pump to the engine fuel supply line. On my XJ, all those parts are from a 1998.]

The quick-connects I bought are the wrong size, and the hose requires a tool I don't have. Guy at local parts store, news at 11, didn't have any idea what I was talking about and sold me the wrong thing; kept receipts. Back to square one, and no one seems to know where to start.

Struck out at the third parts store today. May end up spending $160 on a new fuel pump just to get a $20 hose.

[edit: Just found out the fuel pump doesn't come with it, either, which means anyone who has ever had to replace a fuel pump has had to deal with basically this, right?]

Completely at my wits' end, I called the dealership today. They can special-order the part - remember, a foot of nylon hose and two quick-connects - for $40, which is insane, since their own service department must have the tool to make them. But I've talked to every parts store in town, Quadratec and Morris 4x4, asked on this forum and elsewhere, and no one has any other option, so...

Never had anything like this before with my XJ: hell, the availability of parts and advice is one of the reasons I drive this car, and not some other one. Crazy.
