I have an 01 XJ 4x4 4 door, I have found a fuel leak in my line. It is under the driver side where the line turns up toward the engine bay. It is metal leading up to a fitting that is sort of a bell shape and a black clip that holds it in. My leak is just after that on a rubber hose about 4-6 inches long that attaches to a metal line again. My question is are the hose clamps special or can I use regular hose clamps? Wasn't sure if the pressure was high enough to require something specific or not, thanks for your time.

Almost 50psi of pressure in that line. You really want to trust regular ol' cheap hose clamps? I use this kit at work to repair fuel lines.

 

Its a standard piece of fuel line being held by what appear to be a factory standard hose clamp. I'm not thrilled with the idea of using a 25 cent clamp. I don't have access to a kit like yours and that seems like it would complicate and other wise simple design, just my 2 cents. Thanks for the suggestion, I may just have to go to Jeep and get their fancy clamp.

 

After some more searching I found my answer. Anyone wanting to know this s what I found. There is a special clamp for fuel lines called a "Fuel inj hose clamp" specially designed for the high pressure. Dorman makes them and should be able to find them in most parts stores.

 

I think that line goes to the fuel rail and has custom bends and clip that attach it to the fuel rail. The easiest solutions would be to get the dealer part and be done with it.

 

If the metal line is leaking, cut out 1" section and install a compression fitting. That is what they are used for. The kit in #2 shows a ton of them
