fuel inefficient
Just why is the straight six such a pig for gas? My '97 S-10 with the 4.3 V6 gets way better mileage than my '99 Cherokee.

Good question.
S-10 is lighter, not 4x4, cab only so less drag, engine/drive tran made for *** mileage not toque.
Just guessing.
