probably bad sending unit in the tank.

i saw a bunch go bad recently cuz no one was able to fill their tanks when gas was 4.50/gal, then when you do fill it after that long there's bad spot in the reostat on the sender.

big deal to replace? if so probably just leave it for now seems to work correctly just won't go to full on 3/4 of a tank and stays there longer.

X 2 on the sending unit. It is a PITA to gain access to the sending unit inside the gas tank. If I was going in the tank to replace the fuel gauge sending unit. I would go ahead and R&R the fuel pump, too. Just because it's that big of a PITA. I wouldn't want to have to tear into the tank twice within a couple month period. It's kind of like the whole, if you're removing the tranny for maintenance, swap the clutch out just because you have it all apart, thing.
