am 20 year mechanic but am stumped on this one. bought this jeep at buy here pay here $500. had bad slave cylinder and have scince replaced. i made sure this truck ran before i said sold. told it had sat for a year and a half so the use start fluid and it did run. oil and coolant looked great. now will turn over but not run. have changed fuel pump and filter with fresh gas, fuel pressure reg,dist/pick-up coil assy,coil,cps,tps,idle stepper motor,assorted relays and fuses,tried spare ecu, and ballast resistor on left fender well by firewall. have great spark and fuel pressure. would love to get this fixed soon as we are moving and i don't want to traler it again! thanx!!!! btw,sory, 1992,4-door,5 speed non-4 wheel

 

Turns over, but wont stay running??

Did you re-connect the ignition wires properly? Firing order is molded into the intake manifold.

My Cherokee running now!Gr8! Turns out some of the repairs were a neccecity. The assumption now is when they jumped it with the emergency power unit it may have spiked the electrical system. The end repair was a used set of plugs laying around after I noticed the ones in the engine were wet. A few years ago I would have done a full tune up, filter and fluid change but hard times persist and I hadn't done so yet as I needed her to get to work asap. but in the end the fuel tank had to be cleaned and old pump was rotted, the CPS was bad the distributor assembly new just doesn't hurt on her orginal miles. So with that done I'd like to clean the body up. Have already redone interior in black, and am going to build push/brush bar and a safari rack for fuel cans and spare. We are moving soon so as work starts again I'd like to keep in touch with pics. Thanx again, Ken.
