Default Front Valance Removal

Has anyone removed the front valance / bumper skirt / air dam / (whatever the plastic trim below the bumper is called) from their pre-97 XJ? If so, how did you trim your fender flares? Pictures?

I butchered mine installing a brush guard and I am now considering removing it or replacing it.

Thanks

On our 91 (she) wanted a push bar.
I took the valance off.

The 4 push pins that you see (2 per side) are the easy ones.
UP behind the bumper are 4-6 sheet metal screws with big washers.

You will need 3 things:

1. Small box-end wrench
2. Patience
3. Small hands

I had 1 & 2.
Failed #3
But if you have an excess of #2...it will work.

I have yet to trim the flares on hers...she is very fussy.
On MY 94, before I replaced the flares with rear TJ's I just drew a line across even with the vottom of the fender and carefully trimmed the bottom of the flare with a razor knife.

If you are keeping the stock bumper ends..it will look alot cleaner
