Default Front Spring "Bowing" out

Under compression the front spring is not compressing correctly and is "bowing" out towards the front.

RE 4.5" superflex with 3/4" spacers.

Looks like the upper spring purch is canted fwd. Like that on both sides!

Any ideas on how to correct?

Thanks

from the pic bro, it looks like its not seated at the top. is it possible it overextened and hung and actually bent the spring.

If you look at the second pic. it does appear that it is not seated right.

Default Control arms too short

The upper spring mounts were ok, but the Caster was off due to the fixed lenght RE control arms are too short.

RE was of no help, except they did admit the issue was caused by the short control arms. Suggested control arm drop mounts or adjustable control arms. Would not "share the pain" of correcting this issue.

They said the "bowing" was no problem.

Does anyone else have this issue?

I think the cure would be the new Rough Country 6.5 Long arm kit, anyone have one yet???

Thanks to all for steering me in the right direction.

Well, now I know who NOT to buy stuff from in the future. RE has always seemed a bit pricey to me, throw crappy customer service in with it and you lose customers.

Personally if you have the bread I'd get the RC Long Arm upgrade. I've heard nothing but great things about what they have become as a company, the products they make(now) and the customer service they give. If you can't drop the dough for a LA kit, buy some IronMan4x4 adjustable LCAs

What did you expect RE to do? If you remove the spacers.. the problem might go away? Have you tried shimming your LCA foward? You are blaming the manufacturer for a problem you knew would be there if you did your research.

Short arm kits inherently have caster issues. Plus with new springs that haven't settled this should be expected.

Does anyone make the shims or you have to make them yourself? Don't laugh but could you just shim a little it with a washer or two?

What kind of problems will caster out of spec cause?

You need longer control arms. I have a 3.5 RE and 2" poly spacers, mine bows a little but I had my RE fixed arms lengthned to correct the issue, they still bow a tiny bit. Buy adjustables if you do buy new.

I just looked at the first pic again, it looks like you dont have enough bump stopping, and you have your rig over flexed. So of course blame the builder. I dont see any bump stopping, and it looks like your upper bump stop is almost touching your spring pad at the bottom.

i just noticed that too , im a little confused whats going on there , theres a huge spacer at the bottom of the spring pad, wich i know some companies use those instead of a longer bump stop itself , but why is it almost touching the top ? something is really wrong there

no no no.. that "block" that you see in the bottom of the coil inside it actually is the extended bump stop.. it goes inside the spring and bolts to the spring perch. instead of extending your upper bumpstops they just have you put those metal pucks in there.. there is nothing wrong with that.. i just dont know why its bowing like that.

personally i think that the uppers are too long because its pushing the top of the axle forward. the lower ones seem fine because the axle is underneath the bumpstop but the uca's are pushing the top of the axle forward because they are too long and thats where he is getting to bow at.
