Default Front speakers - no sound

Hi there. I just purchased a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport and neither front door speakers work or emit any sound. The dealer I bought the Jeep from said they may be blown, but blown speakers would still emit some sound, however awful. The rear speakers work fine. I removed the drivers side door panel and checked to make sure the speaker was connected to the wiring, which it was. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Don't want to purchase new speakers if that's not the issue. Thanks!

Default I had same problem.

I ended up seeing both doors had been replaced. the wires were cut in the rubber boot you see when you open the door.

My 99 had shorts in both of the front speaker. When I replaced them I ran new speaker wire directly to the headunit, and cut the old wires. It works great now.

That is the most likely cause of your speakers not working. Most Jeeps, after the doors being opened and closed so many times the wire inside of the rubber boot pretty much breaks. My dad and I took the rubber boot out and unwrapped the wires. We then replaced the wires and it now works perfectly.
