Default Front seat swap

Anyone ever swapped the front seat bottoms and covers from passenger side to driver side? The cushioning on my driver side is shot.

If I remember correctly the seats are a little different.

I have em swapped on my 89. The only difference was the little elastic straps that holds the seatbelt receiver are now on the wrong side.

I swapped just the cushions. It worked out better than I thought it would. It sure does feel a lot better. The plastic seat bottom sides don’t hug the seat like they did before but it’s hardly noticeable. Plus I use a good quality seat cover. Of course the seat bottoms are very different from side to side In my 99 and the covers help hide that fact.

When you say cushioning do you mean the foam?
I turned a bottom passenger seat into a driver's seat.
The frame is different. The seat cover itself is different. I don't know about the foam.
I took the seat cover and foam from a passenger seat and put them on a driver's side frame.
2 out of the 3 mounting points are different. '00 by the way.
Thing is that the seat cover has carpet against the console and the leather, did it with leather seats,
on the outside.
So now there was carpet showing on the outside of the seat. But I run seat covers so you do not notice it.
I used zip ties in the 2 mounting points that were different to secure it to the frame.
So these are the 2 mounting points that are different. The circled ones.

This loops over

this......

Those 2 tabs go into

these holes.

So both those sides are now zip tied and ended up with this.

As I said now the carpet is on the outside but the seat covers hide that.
Also had to put a slit in the seat for the mounting point of the upper part to come through the seat cover.
See that black "ear" coming through the seat cover at the top of the picture.

If it is just the foam that is shot and the seat cover is alright then you just need a hog ring kit.
At least that is how my '00 is set up. Not sure how this relates to a '96.

THANKS guys.
Everything is good except the foam so at some point I'll get a hog ring kit. Actually I had removed the seats and their covers shortly after I acquired the XJ (~12yrs ago?). Just couldn't remember how the foam was fastened in.
